Fernando Pessoa
I see everywhere, not indeed the abstract, but the non-concrete:
I see everywhere, not indeed the abstract, but the non-concrete: this is the nature of my abstraction of spirit — not the infinite but the not-finite. In this manner I who was ever in pure abstraction saw nothing but objects in themselves.
I fear all things, true, but all things not in all ways, but in one way only, abstractly and dreamingly, as with an opium-eater's consciousness.
